No more puppies

Tonight I gave my last puppy away. I feel as if he has gone to a good home. I will miss him. Actually, I will miss all three of my puppies.

GOODBYE TUBBY!

Goodbye Puppies

Tubby ~ He is the biggest of the puppies.

Nixon ~ He doesn't like his brother and sister to pester him.

Abbie ~ She is the first one to come running toward you when you come home.

We no longer have Abbie and Nixon. They have found homes. We still have Tubby. We are still looking for a home for him. I sure have missed the other two. It was so much fun to watch the three of them play. There is nothing like free entertainment.

They are pure bred miniature schnauzers. Many folks would just die if they knew I was just giving them away. What's wrong by blessing someone with the love and affection of a puppy?

The best things in life are free.

Christmas Blooms and Animal Crackers

I've had this christmas catus plant for years. In fact, I got it after my grandma passed away in the late 80's. It has never bloomed. I notice the other day, that it has some buds on it. I took a closer look and it has several buds. I don't know what color the flower will be but I can't wait. I have taken some photos of it to show my mom. She will flip when she finally see that it's finally going to bloom. I wonder what color the flower will be. The anticipation is killing me. This is exciting!

When I saw the blooms, I immediately thought of my grandma. Gawl, how I miss her. She was a very loving person. Everyone in her town loved her to pieces. It also made me think, "Is grandma looking down on me?" It brought tears to my eyes. I started having flashbacks when I was young sitting on the front porch with her, early in the morning, while she drank her coffee and I drank my chocolate milk. Oh how I miss those simple days.

1st Basketball Game

I wanted to post my daughter first basketball game. The picture isn't all that great but my camera was dying right when I took it. She is the girl in the white that is right under the goal. She did great for her first time. Someone from her team didn't think so. I told her not to accept negative comments from anyone. If they were good themselves, they would encourage her not pull her down.
ANYWAY, it brought back memories back from my high school/college days. Gosh, I remember playing in all the top area athletes summer/winter leagues plus playing during the school year. WHEW, it was tough but I had fun. I pray that my daughter has fun too.
More photos of my baby girl playing on the way!

*The more I post the more I want to start scrapbooking

a good mistake

Ok, I have been trying to learn how to cook. I've been wanting to do this for quite some time but just never got around to doing it. I would love to cook from scratch. I'm always on the look out for easy but good recipes. I have even subscribed to a lot of others blog in hopes that by seeing what they are making, I can "try" to make it too.
The other night, I was going to try to make some french fries. I thought to myself, "Oh what the heck, just try." So I did. I wasn't pay attention to what I was doing when cooking supper. I didn't realize that I didn't cut my french fries in the right shape till after I had put them in pan. To my surprise, I noticed that my french fries looked funny. Now I was thinking, "oh crap, hubby isn't going to like these french fries." And my self esteem about learning how to cook went down the drain. I went on ahead and kept cooking my burgers (i do know how to cook those). I put the unusual french fries on a plate and was going to throw them away. Hubby came in to see what all I was cooking. He had reached over to taste the "french fries",and said, "oh wow, those are good!" I then noticed that my french fries where potato chips. I looked at him with delight on my face and said, "oh honey thank you!" Did he really mean it? Was he just trying to boost up my cooking self esteem cause I thought I had failed? NO! He really meant it! So now I'm very happy that I made a mistake.

I guess it's true that some mistakes can be good mistakes.

$90. potato peelings

Today I was thinking that my husband was having a day off cause it was scheduled for him to have one. Well, to my surprise, he told that the reason why he wasn't going to work today or tomorrow was, he was sent home. His tanker truck axle broke and the company considers that the drivers fault even if it really wasn't. So he his home for two days with no pay. UGH!

Well, at least we got to spend time with each other. I guess I could look at it in a bad way but it's a choice to do that. So, I'm choosing to be happy about it even though he won't be getting paid. Who knows, maybe God wanted us to spend some time together.

We spend our day doing many things. First of all, we had to call a plumber to come fix our kitchen sink. Hubby thinks the garbage disposal is to chop up any type of food that your to lazy to put in the trash. I told him not to put the potato peelings into the garbage disposal cause there was to many and plus the disposal is old and needs to be replaced. But did he listen? No. He didn't anyway. So now both of our sinks are clogged. The plumbers came and spent about 20 minutes cleaning out the water line. Can you guest how much they charged us? We was charged $90. I think that is a bit to much. Has anyone paid $90. for potato peelings? GISH!

I should be thankful for the money to pay for those $90. potato peelings cause 3 months ago, my husband didn't have a job. In fact, he has been without a job for 9 months. I guess I shouldn't be complaining about it. I am thankful to have the money to fix it. If I think about it, I should be even grateful that during the 9 months he was off work, we didn't have to fix anything or nor did we hurt for anything. God took care of our family.

The remaining of the day was filled with a list of activities.

1. Cleaned out miniature schnauzers pet taxi
2. Daughter had bottom braces put on.
3. Went to Target
4. Went to Hastings (books, cd's, and movies store)
5. Ate fast food
6. Helped daughter with homework
7. Spent time with kids

Enjoy life as it happens!

first game

Last night was fun. My husband and I got to see our daughter 1st basketball game. She is a freshman in high school and her first year playing. She did an excellent job playing. We are so proud of her. She makes a good guard. I wanted to badly to yell and get all excited but I was warn not to embarrassed her. But I did yell a little but she didn't hear me. LOL!
I'm kinda mad about last night too. Just when our daughter gets to play, I get out my camera to take a picture and my camera dies. A warning light comes on, batteries exhausted. NO! I was able to get one photo but I'm not sure if it will come out. Oh well, there will be more games to come.

Straight Dance

Today I had to go and search for some photos of my brother for my mom. She is wanting to put a photo album together of him in his regalia. He is what native americans call a Straight Dancer. My brother is a good dancer. We travel all over to take him to pow wows and watch him dance for the Cherokee people. My brother tells me that when he dances, he thinks of our grand mother. He remembers all the good times he had with her and what all that she taught him. Seeing my brother dance makes me proud not only cause he is my brother but proud to be a native american. There are many people who attend pow-wows that will stop and ask me or my parents what the is meaning of the dance or talk about his outfit.

Today I thought I would post about my brother, and the meaning behind the dance, and outfit.

ENJOY!

STRAIGHT DANCE

The Straight Dance, sometimes referred to as Southern Traditional, is the formal and original dance of most of the Oklahoma tribes, including the Ponca, Osage, Kiowa, Comanche, Kaw, and many others. It is a dignified style, where the men who dance it keep a steady, flowing pace that is not interrupted with fancy moves or extra footwork. Because of its slow place, some people believe that it is an old man's dance, but this is not the case. There are many fine Straight Dancers in the Oklahoma area, ranging in age from ten to eighty. It is a formal war dance, meaning that it follows the old ways, and has many strict rules that must be adhered to. There, every dancer is required to dance every dance for the duration of the war dance, which is very tiring.

THE REGALIA

I would love to tell you about his outfit. Everything has a meaning. The well made outfit of a Straight Dancer is a true work of art. Many tribes, especially the Osage, value very fine materials that are used in the construction of regalia. Many of the articles a Straight Dancer wears are unique to his style and cannot be seen anywhere else

Beginning from the top, most Straight Dancers wear a roach
, about 20 inches in length with a single immature Golden eagle tail feather in the center. The spreader is often silver beaded leather, and a single lock of hair with a plain or beaded roach pin holds the roach in place. Often a few feathers will be atached to the roach pin. Many Straight dancers also will wear a headband made from a rolled up white handkerchief that is knotted on the forehead. Most also will have scalp feathers as well.

Most dancers will wear a ribbon shirt of some kind, although some do go without a shirt in the Southern heat.
Bandoliers, made of everything from hairpipe, beads, and rifle cartridges, are worn from each shoulder, crossing the chest. It has also become common for almost all to wear a large neckerchief around their neck, secured by a German silver slide. A Beaded belt ties off everything nicely.

The primary article of any Straight Dancer is a drop
, which can be made from a otter hide decorated with beadwork and ribbonwork or several silver or brass conchos strung together the length or the body. Drops are attached at the neck and should just scrape the ground when dancing. In the South, there are two main variations in dress. In the Ponca and Osage style, dark blue woolen aprons and leggings with beautiful and intricate ribbonwork is worn to cover the lower half of the body. This style relies heavily on ribbon and fine cloth to create its "look." The other main style, the Kiowa and Comanche Style, tab leggings are worn, and there is a greater reliance on German silverwork. Both styles have fingerwoven garters and belts tied around the waist and just below the knees. Either bells or deer toe clackers are worn just below the knee to produce a good sound. The outfit is finished with a beaded pair of moccasins.
A Straight dancer will always have some type of
fan on him, either a loose fan, a flat fan or a wing fan. He will also will have a dance staff that is shorter and thinner than found in most other styles, and the staff may have small eagle feathers hanging from it.

RAWR!

I gotta share another cute photo of our grand daughter. This one she is playing with our cat, Ringo. It looks like she is intimidating him. Look at her facial expression. She looks like she is showing him her claws. Man, I think I need to get into scrapbooking, don't you?
OH! I do have good news on her location. Through a friend of a friend, I received an email telling me her address. I would love to go see her but I know that her mother will up and move. So for now, I will be content on having an address. This will help us when it comes time for us to get an lawyer to seek custody.

I miss her sooo much!
